EmitenTrust.com 6 in 10 financial advisors say that they are more bullish on Canada compared to 12 months ago

TORONTO, Oct. 13, 2026 /CNW/ -- In May 2026, FidelityConnects Advisor Pulse Polls found that financial advisors viewed Canada as offering the most compelling investment opportunity for their client portfolios, surpassing emerging markets, the U.S., Europe and other regions.

After four months of escalating trade talks and tariffs, new Pulse Poll research released today shows advisors' outlook on Canada has strengthened, defying some expectations that continued uncertainty might soften views on Canada and demonstrating real resilience in the way advisors view the country's long term economic and investment prospects.

"Since we started the FidelityConnects programming in 2018, we have been polling advisors' views on Canada and other regions around the world," said Chris Pepper, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, at Fidelity Investments Canada.

"In the last year, we have been watching a big shift in how advisors feel about their home country. The latest results show this optimism is not just transient, but that it is more durable and improving."

What do financial experts think of Canada?

Fielded on October 5 and 6, 2026, drawing on more than 1,500 responses, 6 in 10 financial advisors say that they are more bullish on Canada compared to 12 months ago.

These historically high levels of optimism as observed on the FidelityConnects platform come on the heels of the Canada Investment Summit and the federal government's new policies, aimed at catalyzing investments in nation building projects and enhancing productivity over the long-term.

Why are they more bullish on Canada's future?

When asked to expand on why they view Canada as a more desirable investment destination for client capital, 4 in 10 financial advisors cited new policy direction and initiatives focused on economy, including the Mega Super Deduction, as the primary driver.

What is the Fidelity Global Asset Allocation Team's view on Canada?

Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation (GAA) Team based in Toronto manages $127.9 billion on behalf of over one million Canadian investors across 33 strategies (as at September 30, 2026).

Leveraging Fidelity's global research platform, the GAA team continuously monitors markets and economies worldwide, making tactical portfolio adjustments as opportunities and risks emerge to seek to enhance the risk-reward profile for clients.

"For a long time, we have been underweight Canadian assets for several structural reasons, including over-dependence on the housing sector for growth, high levels of household debt and underinvestment in key sectors," said David Wolf, GAA's lead Portfolio Manager and former Advisor at the Bank of Canada.

"Much has changed. We are now seeing the historic challenges facing Canada being met with a generational, multi-faceted policy response at a speed, scope and scale we have not seen in decades. We believe that markets are currently underestimating the resulting potential improvement in the long-term trajectory of Canada's economic growth.  As a result, we have brought considerable capital home to Canada, and are now overweight the domestic market for the first time in over a decade."

Collectively, the Fidelity Global Asset Allocation Team, Fidelity Investments Canada and Fidelity Investments-related entities around the world invest over $380 billion in Canadian equities and bonds (as at September 30, 2026).
