EmitenTrust.com PRAIRIEVILLE, La., Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Hope Charities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving individuals living with rare and chronic illnesses in the bleeding disorders community, announced today that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) has issued a Favorable Advisory Opinion No. 26‑17 regarding the organization's proposed patient assistance arrangements.

This favorable opinion affirms that Hope Charities may provide copay, coinsurance, and health insurance premium assistance to eligible beneficiaries of federal healthcare programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE, through independently administered, diagnosis‑specific disease funds, consistent with the safeguards outlined by the OIG.

"At Hope Charities, we are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with chronic illnesses by ensuring they have the support needed to access vital healthcare services. This opinion represents a significant milestone for our organization by expanding this important safety net for the patients we serve," said Jonathan James, CEO of Hope Charities.

Hope Charities was founded in 2009 with the mission to provide support and resources to patients with chronic illnesses. Since its initial founding, Hope Charities has expanded its mission by providing assistance with health insurance premiums in the commercial sector. Now, with a favorable opinion, Hope Charities can expand its health insurance initiative to both public and private grants for insurance premiums, copayments, and coinsurance. Hope Charities is confident that the expansion of its initiative will significantly reduce the financial strain on patients, allowing them to prioritize their health without sacrificing their daily living expenses.

"I want to sincerely thank you for your help. Your support has been a tremendous relief during this difficult time for me. You have truly made a difference in my life throughout the years. Knowing there are organizations like Hope that care for and support the bleeding disorders community gives me hope and encouragement to keep moving forward. I am forever grateful for your kindness and the positive impact you've made in my life since I have known you all. Thank you again for all that you do for us!" — Hope Charities Recipient.

"With a favorable opinion in hand, we now shift our focus to securing the financial support necessary to open and operate these disease funds," said James.

As funding becomes available, Hope Charities will announce individual diagnosis-specific funds, including details on eligibility criteria, available assistance, and application processes.
