EmitenTrust.com TORONTO, Oct. 5, 2026 /CNW/ -- The 35th annual Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure took place on October 4, bringing together more than 65,000 participants and volunteers, including a record-setting 14,837 dedicated Team CIBC members, at more than 50 Run sites across Canada. This year, over $18 million was raised, with Team CIBC contributing an impressive $2.81 million.

"Cancer is a cause that matters deeply to us at CIBC because it affects so many Canadians, including our team members, clients, and loved ones," said Richard Jardim, Senior Executive Vice-President, Chief Technology and Information Officer, Global Technology, Data and AI and co-executive sponsor of the CIBC Run for the Cure. "We're grateful to everyone who ran, walked and cheered in support of this important cause. Every step taken in support of the Run helps make a difference, and together, we are helping create a future where people affected by breast cancer can live longer, healthier lives."

This year marked Team CIBC's 30th year as title partner of the CIBC Run for the Cure, raising an outstanding $70.4 million to date for breast cancer research, treatment, education, and support programs across the nation. The increased awareness, research, and improved treatment has resulted in the breast cancer death rate being cut nearly in half since the mid-1980s.

"Team CIBC is proud to have been running alongside our fellow Canadians and incredible partners at the Canadian Cancer Society every step of the way for 30 years," says Eve Jedrzejewska, Executive Vice-President, Business Enablement and Governance, and co-executive sponsor of the CIBC Run for the Cure. "The funds raised will help support a system that provides care, comfort, and connection to people living with breast cancer, and Team CIBC is extremely proud to play a part."

Until October 31, you can still make a difference by sharing a message of hope to show your support to someone special. CIBC Foundation will donate $10 to the Canadian Cancer Society, up to a maximum of $100,000, on your behalf for every message sent.

"This milestone 35th anniversary of the Run is a powerful testament to the dedication of Canadians from coast to coast to coast," said Laurie Benner, Vice President, Signature Programs, Canadian Cancer Society. "For the past 30 years, CIBC, its team members, and clients, have been at the heart of the Run, helping to raise vital funds for breast cancer research, advocacy, and compassionate support programs, and we're deeply grateful for our longstanding partnership."

Funds raised through the Run continue to drive advancements in breast cancer research across prevention, detection, and treatment and help fund information and support programs offering evidence-based information on cancer and services like lodging, transportation, peer support and more.
